When Gareth Southgate was recently appointed as Boro manager, a new era dawned atGareth Southgate. Manager. Middlesbrough FC Middlesbrough Football Club - and we took the opportunity to take a step back and look at this site.

It has been around on the Internet since late 1998, starting off life as The Boro Index and transforming into BoroBarmy.com in 2000. Since then, we've been on a rollercoaster ride thanks to Bryan Robson and Steve McClaren. Many world class, and not so world class players, have joined us on the journey, culmunating in the Carling Cup win of 2004. We then started our unforgetable UEFA Cup travels, climaxing in the disappointing Final in May 2006.

Ultimately, this and many other fan sites are victims of Premier League rules that we were not allowed to publish the fixtures, unless we paid a fee. This fee was hundreds of pounds - which we simply could not afford to pay. We were threatened with legal action should the fixtures remain on the site. This took out a large chunk of our service to you when we were only allowed to display the next fixture.

So, with Sir Gareth now at the helm, we have decided to let this site drift off into cyber space.  We would like to thank everyone who has visited, praised and criticised this site over the years - especially those who e-mailed us with questions, queries and even the odd spot of abuse (although that was usually from jealous Geordies or Mackems).

You'll still be able to keep up with Boro and general football news through our BBC Sport feed on the left, and who knows - one day we may well return. But in the meantime, we will always be Boro Barmy.

Up The Boro!
