WIN a new Fiat Van!

See FIAT's Boro van design by clicking here

Supporters of Middlesbrough Football Club are being given the opportunity to win a van wrapped in the club’s colours if they can design their own perfect team van. As part of a new national football-related advertising campaign, Fiat Commercial Vehicles is offering a prize of a Doblò Cargo 1.3 SX MultiJet van to the supporter who designs the most humorous team van during the 2004/05 season.

Running online and in the national press, the Perfect Van campaign involves the unveiling of a range of fictitious team vans each week throughout the 2004/05 football season. The vans mirror Fiat’s van range, which comprises Ducato, Doblò Cargo, Scudo and Punto Van.

To give Middlesbrough supporters an example of what their team’s perfect van could look like, Fiat this week puts the Teesside club in the spotlight. Among the product ‘features’ includes suggestions for a large megaphone because the team believes its young winger (Stewart Downing) could be in with a shout for a place in the England squad, and a large map because the team has never made it into Europe before!

The van would also require notably large access to allow boss Steve McClaren to parachute in after England matches; and a bag of travel sweets, provided, of course, they are not humbugs, because Middlesbrough supporters hate black and white stripes!

Middlesbrough supporters, or any other football fans, who think they can design a better van will soon be given the chance when Fiat launches its new Perfect Van website. The best van designed each week will be posted on the interactive website, www.fiatvans.co.uk, and at the end of the season, a Fiat Doblò Cargo wrapped in the chosen team colours will be awarded to the supporter with the most humorous design.

Paul Godden, Fiat Commercial Vehicles brand manager, says the Perfect Van campaign reflects Fiat’s ongoing policy of sports association and sponsorship.

“By identifying a topical team of the week and creating a light-hearted collage of their perfect van, we are establishing a real connection between football supporters and Fiat Vans.

“Our research shows that many football fans are van drivers and we hope that they, along with other non-van driving supporters, will find the campaign amusing.

“The campaign is not intended to single out any particular person, group or region of the country, but simply shows that we are as passionate about football as the nation’s van drivers, and we fully understand the trials and tribulations every team and their supporters tend to suffer at some point during the season.”

Special limited edition 2005 calendars, featuring a selection of the best team van designs from the current season, are also available to buy and would make an amusing gift to send to friends, family or work colleagues. For more information about the calendars please email fiat.calendars.
