| George's Boro career did not
start how it was to continue - he was unfortunate to score an own goal on his debut. The left-back played virtually all
of his games after the Second World War, captaining England on many occasions, but 'Gentleman George' also took the
armband for a Great Britain side against the Rest Of Europe in 1947.
George sadly passed away on April 19th, 2004.
