Ugo Ehiogu scored his first goal for England in the recent friendly match at Villa Park against Spain. Replacing Rio Ferdinand at half-time, Ugo put in a solid performance, scoring with a great header, which was England's third and final goal in a 3 - 0 victory. He was unfortunate to give away a penalty - the referee blowing for shirt pulling on striker Moreno. However, the penalty was saved by Nigel Martyn, preserving England's clean sheet, and great start under new Coach Sven Goran Eriksson. Sadly, Ehiogu is banned for several key Boro games, and the England coach has not picked him for the crucial World Cup qualifiers in March.
