MIDDLESBROUGH 3 BANIK OSTRAVA 0 After a battling first half performance, Boro turned
on the style in the second half to win the first ever UEFA Cup match. It
was the two strikers again, with
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink giving Boro the lead 12 minutes after
the break. Just six minutes later Viduka
scored with a superb strike. It was the Australian again who gave Boro a
three goal lead with a great header ten minutes from the end. Mendieta and Ehiogu missed the game through
injury.
