He's a Legend. He's a Living
Legend - and he's back home at the Boro! The Little Fella played some of the best football ever seen at Middlesbrough
during his first spell at the club. Sadly, a broken leg shortly after being transferred to Atletico Madrid dashed his
hopes of playing in the 1998 World Cup, but he returned to Boro on loan in 1999. After becoming surplus to requirements in Madrid, he
was loaned out to several Brazilian clubs, and Boro managed to secure his signature for a third time during July 2002,
shortly after his success in the World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
